DEFLATION OF THE PARIS GENERALI BALLOON
Since 8 o’clock this morning, the Generali Ballon de Paris has been undergoing a very specific deflation operation to recover the 6,200 m³ of helium it contains for recycling. The helium re-pumping operation, carried out in partnership with the start-up 45-8 Energy, will last three days (24 hours a day) and is part of an innovative and sustainable approach.
Thanks to the renewal of its partnership with insurer Generali France for 5 years (2025-2030) and the arrival of a new scientific partner, Aérophile, the world leader in tethered balloons, is in the process of building a new Generali balloon.
A partner of the Paris balloon since 2013, Generali is renewing its support for the 2nd time, enabling it to finance the scientific research carried out on board the aircraft, in particular that carried out for over 10 years by the CNRS on the evolution of air pollution in the capital.
Re-inflated this spring, the balloon will carry a greater ecological and scientific commitment to raising awareness among Parisians and tourists alike of environmental issues and their impact on health. The new Ballon Generali de Paris will continue to be part of a dynamic of sustainable innovation, while remaining an emblematic symbol of the Parisian landscape.
The Ballon de Paris Generali is the third highest point in Paris. Over the past 25 years, 1,500,000 passengers have boarded its gondola to admire views of the capital from 150 m above sea level.
